Competition
Best Young Chef Rôtisseur
High Cuisine and great food are a priority at the Chaîne and so the “Confrérie” helps and promotes future young chefs by giving them the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills. An annual Competition of Young Chefs is held each year at the Regional, National and International levels. The competition is open to young cooks no more than 27 years of age and having no more than five years of professional cooking experience, culinary schooling not included. A candidate for competition at any level must be nominated by their employer, who must be a member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs or a student of a catering college.
The Bailliage of Belgium has organised the National Competition since 2001 and the 2011 Competition will therefore be the 11th time we have held this important event.
Each year we have encountered the same, growing, success and the same enthusiasm amongst the young commis to participate and it is with no surprise that our young Belgian participants gain each time an honorable place at the International Competition. This year, the competition was held on the 28 April at the CERIA in Brussels. The prize for Best Young Chef Rôtisseur of Belgium 2011 went to M. Damien Gorjanec of the “la Plage d'Amée” and was presented to him by the previous winner, Mr. Damien Hamelrijck of the “L'Atelier de Michel D”. The National Winner will represent Belgium at the International Competition held in Istanbul, Turkey, on the 9-11 September 2011 .
